The invention relates to a thermally insulated body with at least one interior space, having a main extent and, if appropriate a plurality of, openings, preferably a pipe, container or the like, with at least one metallic inner casing and, connected to the latter, in particular metallic, outer casing, an intermediate space formed between the casings containing an insulating material, if appropriate porous and preferably in the form of particles and/or powder, and gas at reduced pressure, and the inner casing being deformed in a manner widening the interior space, the inner casing having a plurality of zones cold-plastically deformed in a manner widening and changing the shape of the cross-section of the interior space with different degrees of deformation with respect to one another, which zones are, if appropriate distributed evenly over the circumference of the said inner casing and in each case run essentially along at least major parts of its main extent.
