A lengthwise folding apparatus for web-fed rotary printing machines has a former to which a plurality of sections lying one above the other are fed via a former inlet roll. In order to ensure even running between the sections over the entire lengthwise folding apparatus, at least one of the feed rolls of the pair of feed rolls arranged after the former is provided with carrier projections which penetrate the sections.
