The invention relates to a pad for the key cups of wind instruments, for use in the selective sealing of finger holes and saliva holes. The pad consists of a plastic disc comprising two layers, one of which is suitable for sealing the hole, the other being less rigid and bearing a layer of contact adhesive and a masking paper. The invention can be used to press the disc into the key cup, which causes the paper to be attached to the inner concavity of the key cup and so exposes an annular body of the surface coated with adhesive. This ring adheres to the sides of the key cup and holds the pad securely in its place, while correction as regards minor misalignments and the like is automatically undertaken. The pad is preferably slightly oversized relative to the diameter of the key cup.
