The two gas/gas heat exchangers according to an apparatus in accordance with P 3343114.0 form a unit of several metres in length. Should the length become too large for the individual transport of heat exchanger unit and converter - for reasons of weight it is rarely possible to transport the converter complete with built-in heat exchanger unit - it will be necessary to separate the heat exchanger unit. According to the invention, it is proposed to attach the shell plate, which is used to join the two gas/gas heat exchangers, in a detachable and leak-proof manner and by means of a multiplicity of clamps and clamping screws, to the outlet tube plate of the one heat exchanger and/or to the inlet tube plate of the other heat exchanger.
