A magnetic disk cartridge has a flexible magnetic disk, which is enclosed in a generally flat, square jacket of relatively rigid plastic. The jacket is made up of a pair of halves, which are connected to each other at their corners by ultrasonic fusing, in order to reduce to a minimum the possibility of warping of the jacket, and therefore of the magnetic disk housed in it, during use of the disk cartridge, under the effect of heat. If the rear side of the disk cartridge loaded into a disk drive is touched by an electrically charged hand via the insertion slot in the disk drive, a discharge to the conducting surfaces of the magnetic disk could take place if the gap between the adjacent edges of the halves of the jacket were left open at the rear side of the cartridge. Therefore, the gap between the adjacent edges at the rear side of the jacket is closed at least partially against the possibility of such a discharge, without the cartridge being made susceptible to deformation under the effect of heat. The gap can be closed by fixing a sticker of electrically insulating material, which has spaces to be filled in by the user, on the jacket and/or by fusing the adjacent edges to each other.
