摘要 PURPOSE:To secure switchover between the operation and stoppage of a valve with a simple construction by moving a swinging lever, which is brought in contact with a cam and the top end of an intake valve, in the axial direction of a cam shaft. CONSTITUTION:A cam which controls a secondary intake valve, consists of a cam 1A for opening and closing the valve and a base circle member 1A. A swinging lever 8, which is brought in contact with this cam and with the top end of the intake valve in order to transmit the amount of lift of the cam 1A to the valve, is moved in the axial direction of the cam shaft by means of a hydraulic actuator 11 and, when the lever 8 is brought in contact with the base circle member 1A', the operation of the valve is stopped. A piston 13 and a hydraulic chamber 15 are provided in the actuator 11, and a required oil pressure is supplied in the hydraulic chamber 15 and, when a timing lever 19 is separated from a groove 13d, the piston 13 is moved, causing the lever 8 to come in contact with the cam 1A, to enable the intake valve to be opened and closed.
