PURPOSE:To attain automatically the coincidence with a data format which is set previously to a recording medium to be used, by giving an access again to the recording medium after setting again the data format which is previously stored at the host side. CONSTITUTION:N types of data formats are stored to a data format changing part 4. When an access is first given to a floppy disk 3a, a data format of N=1 is set in a host system 1. If the data format set at the disk 3a is not equal to the data format of N=1, a data format detecting part 5 detects the fact. As a result, the part 4 sets a data format of N=2 within the system 1. In case a data format of N=N is not coincident with the data format of the disk 3a, the system 1 decides the access incapability and displays an error. |
