PURPOSE:To obtain a cable which prevents distortion and deviation of reinforcing fibers in the stage of forming a resin coating on the optical fiber and prevents adverse influence on the optical fiber by protecting the circumference of the optical fiber with reinforcing fibers then enclosing further the fiber with a heat resistant tape thereby bundling the fiber. CONSTITUTION:A glass or plastic optical fiber 2 delivered from a let-off bobbin 1 is protected circumferentially by reinforcing fibers of polyester or nylon, etc. having relatively high heat resistance or polyimide, etc. having high heat resistance supplied in parallel with the fiber 2 via a guide 4 from a supply creel 3 and thereafter the fiber is enclosed and is welded or press-welded by a die 9 with a heat resistant tape 8 which is supplied from a let-off bobbin 6 and is formed by depositing Al by evaporation on a heat resistant tape of ''Teflon'', nylon, etc. The outermost layer is then coated thereon by a plastic resin 11 from an extruder 10. Even if the resin 11 having a high m.p. is used, the characteristics of the fiber 2 are maintained by the fibers 5 and the tape 8 without receiving the adverse influence of said resin. |
