PURPOSE:To attain simply the input of 9 special character by clearing once the display of a text with push of a special mark key and displaying the special character groups stored in a memory to input a desired special character. CONSTITUTION:When a special mark key is pushed on a keyboard 10, a display buffer 42 is cleared to erase the contents so far displayed at a display device 60. Then an access is given to a special character table 43 within a memory 40, and the first 10 special characters are read out and stored to the buffer 42 for display. A user pushes a conversion key if no desired special character is not obtained. Thus the read address of the table 43 is replaced and the next 10 special characters are read out and displayed. Hereafter the same processing is repeated until a desired special character is obtained. If no desired character is obtained, the corresponding ten keys are pushed on the keyboard 10. Thus a designated special character is written to the corresponding position of a text buffer 41. This data is chopped for each display picture plane and sent to the buffer 42 for restart of display.
