The invention relates to a method for effectively utilising the waste energy of the preprocessing and processing system of cereals, especially the heated air of the ventilators and pneumatic system of a cereal mill for the optimum preheating of the cereal and for partial feeding back of the mains water to the cereal in order to perfect a selective migration of water on and in the cereal grain, for better loosening of the husk from the seed and for mellowing of the endosperm. For this purpose, known devices are used, the warm air flowing directly around the cereal and, in this process, a conduction of heat and a compensation of moisture occurring without the known heat exchanger, heat pumps or heat pipes for energy recovery having to be used.
