PURPOSE:To provide the titled felt which has high airtightness and is highly flexible and inexpensive, by providing a molten film layer on the surface of the main body of a felt made of a thermoplastic resin fiber by melting the fiber. CONSTITUTION:At least one side of the surface of the main body 1a of a felt made of a thermoplastic resin (e.g. polypropylene or polyester) fiber is softened by heating it by a heating means such as high-temperature hot air or a hot plate to form a molten film layer 1b. The resulting felt for hermetic sealing is used in the rotary sliding part of household garment drying machines. For example, the felt is molded into a ring. One edge of one side thereof is bonded to a stator (fan case) 4 and other edge thereof is brought into sliding contact with a rotor (rotating drum) 3 [symbol (a) represents air stream].
