PURPOSE:To mass produce inexpensively tocopherol useful as an antioxidant for drugs and healthy foods, having physiological action of vitamin E and anti-oxidant action, by subjecting Carthamus tinctorius to tissue culture in a synthetic nutritive medium. CONSTITUTION:Carthamus tinctorius is subjected to tissue culture in a synthetic nutritive medium containing an inorganic salt, an organic component, a carbon source, etc. preferably at 20-30 deg.C at 5-6pH, and accumulated tocopherol is extracted by solvent extraction with n-hexane, etc., and purified by adsorption chromatography, etc. |
