PURPOSE:To provide a high-density magnetic recording material whose coercive force is set at a value appropriate for coating process, by substituting part of Fe atoms which are included in a hexagonal ferrite, with one or more elements which reduce coercive force. CONSTITUTION:The fine power which is represented by a generalized expression, AFe(12-x)MxO13, is used as hexagonal ferrite fine-powder for a magnetic recording material, where A is one or more elements selected among the group consisting of Ba, Sr and Pb, and M is one or more kinds of a substituted element and/or combinations of elements selected among the group consisting of In, Zn- Ge, Zn-Nb, Zn-V, Co-Ti and Co-Ge, and where (x) is specified by a value of 1- 2.5 and the particle diameter of the fine powder is specified by a value of 0.01- 0.3mum. A vertical-anisotropic magnetic medium film having a coercive force of 200-2,000 Oe, is produced by coating the above-mentioned fine-powder with a binder and a organic solvent on a backing made of a flexible film, and then using a magnetic-field orienting method.
