<p>The device is intended for the remote location of faults in a two-wire line, such a telephone subscriber loop after the detection faults by means of a test and measuring apparatus at a remote end of the line. The device can comprise a first dipole that comprises between the two line wires a capacitor in series-connection with a resistor for locating breaks in the line. It can also comprise a second dipole inserted in series-connection in one of the line wires, or two similar second dipoles inserted in seriesconnection in the two line wires for locating short-circuits in the line. A second dipole has a predetermined resistance in a low-current region and a resistance lower than the predetermined one in a higher current region. A second dipole may include a negative temperature-coefficient thermistor, or two oppositely poled diodes, or one diode, or a relay whose operate coil is connected in series with a parallelcombination formed by a resistor in parallel with a make contact controlled by the relay.</p> |
