PURPOSE:To interrupt only current supply to dangerous elements such as a fixing unit heater and a high voltage transformer for an electrostatic charger and to continue copying smoothly by detecting abnormality by a microcomputer when a side plate of the titled device is opened because of the processing of the abnormality or the like. CONSTITUTION:Paper detecting microswitches SW4, SW5 are arranged near the outlet of a carrier way and whether these detectors are actuated or not is detected at a prescribed time to discriminate a jamming. In case of no detection, a jam signal is outputted, a display device 204 or 205 is turned on and a door 202 or 201 is opened to remove the jammed paper. When the door is opened, a switch SW2 or SW3 is turned off and current supply to AC loads such as a driving motor for a carrying roller, a fixing heater and a high voltage transformer is interrupted. In this case, the number of copied sheets which is stored is not cancelled, and after processing and both doors 201, 202 are closed, the number of jammed sheets is subtracted from the number of copied sheets and the difference is displayed on a display device 207, so that the copying operation can be smoothly continued. |
