PURPOSE:To simultaneously transfer a plurality of steel pipes, by repeating the successive energization of magnets in groups, starting from the group of the inlet end side by a predetermined period. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of electromagnets M-1 through M-28 for absorbing steel pipes 2-1, 2-2, 2-3 upon energization, are arranged at intervals of a predetermined distance which is less than the outer diameter of the steel pipes, and are divided into groups each group having magnets which are arranged at pitches of a distance equal to the outer diameter of the steel pipes. The magnets belong to the groups are successively subjected to a first cycle of energization in groups, from the inlet end side to the outlet end side. Then, initial oscillations which are in synchronism with each other are exerted to a plurality of pipes. Before the completion of the first cycle energization a second cycle energization is carried out from the inlet end side to the outlet side for the magnets in groups so that the synchronized initial oscillations are amplified. Further, third, forth... cycle energizations are similarly carried out to apply kinetic energy to the steel pipes which therefore, override weld beads. |
