DUMMY BAR CENTERING DEVICE FOR PLURAL CASTING BILLETS

PURPOSE:To prevent uneven positioning of dummy bars by providing a centering roll, etc. moving vertically in sliding movement with the dummy bars to a driving roll unit and providing a device for pressing the side face of a common body on a dummy bar carriage. CONSTITUTION:A centering roll 15 which is in sliding contact with the inside side face of each dummy bar and a cylinder 16 pressing the outside side face of a dummy bar exchanging part are provided to a stand 12 of a driving roll unit B. A driving device 10 of an arm 11 for drawing round the dummy bars is reversed to conduct a dummy bar 5 to the prescribed position 5' on a billet passage. The roll 15 is vertically moved to bring it into sliding contact with the fork-shaped inside surface of the bar 5 and a cylinder 16 is actuated to center the top end of the bar 5 to a home position. Pinch rolls 4 and the driving rolls are then driven to reverse by which the bar 5 is brought into a mold and the centering without uneven positioning is accomplished.
