PURPOSE:To extend the life of an electrode disk for automatic mush-seam welding of a cold rolled low-carbon thin sheet by forming said disk of a copper- berylium-nickel-zirconium alloy and specifying the compounding components thereof at a specific weight ratio. CONSTITUTION:An electrode disk for mush-seam welding is formed of an alloy contg. 0.2-0.3wt% berylium, 0.5-1.5wt% nickel, 0.2-0.3wt% zirconium and the balance copper and unavoidable impurity components. The alpha+M phase, overall regular system structure of the alloy is subjected to soln. heat treatment at about 930 deg.C then to water quench hardening followed by tempering at about 500 deg.C. The hardness of the circumferential surface is adjusted to about 60+ or -20 Brinnel hardness HB, the high-temp. tensile strength to 500 deg.C>=34kgf/mm.<2> and the 0.2% yield strength to >=30kgf/mm.<2> respectively. The life of the disk electrode is thus considerably extended and production efficiency is improved. |
