PURPOSE:To utilize a recording area effectively and shorten time for record confirmating by providing a variable delay circuit that changes delay time of write signals with radial movement of a recording device and a discoid record carrier of a reproducing device. CONSTITUTION:The discoid record carrier 1 is rotated in the direction of arrow mark 8 at a fixed angular velocity, and a light head 5 records in the carrier 1 by write signals S6, and at the same time, a signal S6 is latched by a (m-1) bit shift register 10. An address signal Ad is D/A converted 16 and supplied to a VCO17. Generated clock CL2 of the VCO17 is inputted to a 6 bit shift register 18 to shift the phase of output of a register 10. A phase shifting circuit 19 shifts the phase of a clock signal CL1 according to the amount of the signal Ad. Output of the register 18 outputted to an FF13 as clock CL3 is compared with a read signal S7 by an OR gate 11. Thus, memory area can be enlarged and time for record confirmation can be shortened.
