PURPOSE:To obtain a head with excellent recording efficiency and reproducing efficiency by operating the head as an auxiliary magnetic pole exciting head at recording and using it as a ring head at reproduction. CONSTITUTION:A recording coil 3 is wound around the outer circumference, and an auxiliary magnetic pole 2 having sufficient thickness to an I-shape core 5 and a main magnetic pole 5 of a so-called ring magnetic head are arranged oppositely to each other while their pole faces are opposed. A gap (g) is provided between the I-shape core 5 made of magnetic thin film and a C-shape core 6 wound with a reproducing coil 7 on the outer circumference in the main magnetic pole to form a closed magnetic path. A changeover SW is connected across the reproducing coil 7. In case of recording, the SW is closed, and a recording current flows to the recording coil 3 while a medium 4 is run in the direction of arrow A. The I-shape core 5 and the C-shape core 6 form a closed magnetic path at recording and the path is regarded as being formed with the I-shape core 5 only as the main magnetic pole. The SW is opened at reproduction and the head is connected to a differential amplifier, then the reproduction with high efficiency as that of a ring head is realized. |
