PURPOSE:To test a higher harmonic withstanding strength with a three-phase circuit by connecting a sample and an adjusting reactance in parallel with the input of a thyristor inverter whose output has the same number of phases, frequency, and voltage as an input power source. CONSTITUTION:A sample 2 such as a capacitor, a reactor, or the like and the adjusting reactance such as a variable reactor or the like are connected in parallel with the input of a thyristor inverter 5 whose output has the same number of phases, frequency, and voltage as a commercial frequency power source 1, and the input and the output of the inverter 5 are connected to a power source corresponding to the fundamental wave rating of the sample 2. Since the fundamental wave current is supplied to the circuit of the sample 2 from the power source 1, the current where the fundamental wave and a higher harmonic having optional frequency and magnitude are synthesized is flowed to the sample, and test of the higher harmonic withstanding strength is possible.
