MANUFACTURE OF WATER-ABSORPTIVE RESIN

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a non-tacky resin of both high water-absorptivity and water- absorption rate with high resulting gel strength, by crosslinking a carboxylate- contg. water-absorptive resin using functional group-contg. crosslinking agent in a hydrophilic inert solvent in the presence of both water and inorganic powder. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin can be obtained by crosslinking (A) 1pt.wt. of a water-absorptive resin constituted by carboxylate-bearing monomer unit [(meth)acrylic acid alkali salt unit] using (B) a crosslinking agent having at least two functional groups (diglycidyl ether or ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether) in (C) 0.2-20pts.wt. of a hydrophilic inert solvent with a boiling point >=100 deg.C in the presence of (D) 1.5-5.0pts.wt. of water and (E) 0.001-0.1pt.wt. of inert inorganic powder (finely powdery silica).
