The invention relates to a lock for a sliding patio door. The lock enables the door to be bolted simultaneously at the top and bottom by a single operating handle. A deadlock mechanism is incorporated operably by a conventional cylinder lock. In one arrangement, the deadlock and the bolting mechanism can be operated from both sides of the door.
