摘要 PURPOSE:To attain to reduce installation cost, by bringing an unnecessary number of heat generating resistors to a non-operative state from the end of a substrate having a long available recording length. CONSTITUTION:An unnecessary number of heat generating resistors provided to the substrate for thin film thermal recording head having a long available recording length are brought to a non-connection state from the end of the substrate from the aspect of circuit constitution to constitute a thin film thermal recording head having a short available recording length. For example, if 20 diode arrays from the end of the substrate P are not connected to said substrate P, 320 non-connected heat generating resistors R are not driven and the remainder of 704 heat generating resistors R are driven. If the substrate P having 1,024 heat generating resistors R all of which operates is set to C, one of which 320 heat generating resistors R of first - twentieth blocks are non-operative, is set to B and one, of which 320 heat generating resistors R of forty-fifth - sixty- fourth blocks are non-operative, to C, a half of 1,024 dots and a half of 704 dots are connected by adhering B and C or C and A in a laterally arranged state and a thin film thermal recording head having an available recording length corresponding to an A4-size with 1,728 dots is obtained.
