PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composition capable of extremely suppressing water tree development in wet or water-immersed conditions, with markedly improved electrical insulating performance, by incorporating polyolefin with peroxide group-terminated acrylate copolymer. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin composition can be obtained by incorporating (A) a polyolefin such as polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer with (B) 1-30wt% of an acrylate copolymer with its terminal bearing peroxide group of formula (R and R' are each H, 1-4C alkyl). Said copolymer will readily be grafted to the polyolefin by heat, dispersing in the polyolefin in a stabilized form, suppressing water tree development owing to the presence of ester group in the molecule. If required, this copolymer will be subjected to crosslinking by heating by incorporating an organic peroxide such as dicumyl peroxide. |
