PURPOSE:A novel compound for submarine antistaining, obtained by reacting a copolymer of ethylene and an alpha, beta -unsaturated acid acid with an organotin compound, consisting of and having improved storage stability and antistaining performance, and further good adhesion to base materials. CONSTITUTION:A compound, obtained by reacting a copolymer prepared by copolymerizing ethylene with an alpha, beta -unsaturated acid, e.g. (meth)acrylic acid or itaconic acid and/or a derivative thereof, e.g. methyl (meth)acrylate, at 100- 300 deg.C under a pressure as high as 1,000-3,000kg/cm<2> with an organotin compound of the formula R3SnX or (R'3Sn)2O (R and R' are 1-10C hydrocarbon residue; X is OH, halogen or R), etc., and consisting of (A) 30-90wt% constituent groups of formula I and (B) 70-1wt% constituent groups of formula II (R' is H or CH3; R is 1-10C hydrocarbon residue).
