PURPOSE:To keep the revolution speed of a main engine to a desired value by automatically controlling the pitch of a variable-pitch propeller without using a constant-speed governor. CONSTITUTION:The revolution speed N of a Diesel engine 11 as the main engine for a vessel is detected by a detection part 12 and transmitted into a controller 13. Said controller 13 compares the value N with an aimed revolution speed Ns and controls the pitch of a variable-pitch propeller 15 through a pitch control part 14 so that the above-described difference becomes zero. Since the number of revolution of the main engine 11 can be controlled to a desired value by the control of the pitch, fuel can be economized.
