PURPOSE:To cancel out the side component forces on a cutter bed to relieve the load on a bearing and a slide surface, by clamping materials to be sheared between a plurality of receiving cutters arranged at certain intervals, and by arranging shearing cutters such that they are movable crosswise, respectively to the plurality of receiving cutters. CONSTITUTION:Two materials to be sheared which are nuclear fuel rods are secured to receiving beds 12, 12a at predetermined positions, and therefore, the two materials are simultaneously sheared between cutters 10, 10a and receiving cutters 13, 13a in association with a cutting cylinder 6 when the latter is actuated. Further, since the cutter are symmetrically arranged, the side component forces exerted to a cutter bed 8 are cancelled out upon shearing, and therefore, abrasion in a bearing may be reduced, and as well the load exerted to the slide surface of the cutter bed 8 is also relieved so that siezing, etc. may hardly occure. Further, a plurality of materials to be sheared may be cut by a single cutter bed so that the shearing may be efficiently carried out with a less space. |
