The sensor and transmitter of measurements uses the interaction of one or more evanescent optical waves with a medium sensitive to the parameters to be measured, e.g. pressure, temperature, etc. The device consists of a single-mode or multimode optical fibre 5 one end of which is excited by a system acting as a transmitter 7 and the other end of which carries a mirror 8. The cladding 3 of the optical fibre 5 is removed in the region of the medium 11 sensitive to the parameters to be measured. A system 9 collects the reflected wave and a processing system analyses the data. Application especially to displacement sensors, pressure sensors, temperature sensors. <IMAGE>
