In road reflector posts, which are situated in a verge covered in vegetation along a road, mowing the plant growth and cleaning the road reflector posts represents a problem. The invention provides a remedy in this respect in the form of a cover plate which is provided with an opening which receives a road reflector post. The cover plate can be pushed over the road reflector post from above and placed on the ground, with the result that plant growth is prevented in the region of the cover plate. Consequently, mechanical mowing of the plant growth outside the cover plate is possible without problems and the road reflector post can also be mechanically cleaned easily.
