In a motor-vehicle door lock, bonnet lock or the like, with a locking hook (2) normally arranged on a door frame (1), with a lock latch (4) normally arranged on a door (3), if appropriate with a detente pawl assigned to the lock latch (4), with an actuating mechanism (8) for the lock latch (4) and the detente pawl (5), and with an auxiliary motor (12) normally designed as an electric motor, in which, in the closing position of the door (3), the lock latch (4) is in engagement with the locking hook (2) and can be blocked, if appropriate by means of the detente pawl, and in which the door (3) can be brought out of a preclosing position into a main closing position, and vice versa, by means of the auxiliary motor (12), a solution especially expedient for many instances of use and of simple construction is afforded in that the locking hook (2) can be brought out of a preclosing position into a main closing position, and vice versa, by means of the auxiliary motor (12). For this purpose, the locking hook (2) is expediently arranged on a linearly displaceable carrier (13). The auxiliary motor (12) is no longer assigned to the lock latch (4) of the motor-vehicle door lock, but now to the locking hook (2). The actuating mechanism (8) and, if appropriate, the central locking for the motor-vehicle door lock can thereby be made completely independent of the auxiliary motor (12), and vice versa.
