PURPOSE:To provide a working medium capable of providing a coefficient of performance superior to and a condensation pressure lower than those of conventional working media when used in a high-temperature heat pump, by mixing trichlorotrifluoroethane with dichlorotetrafluoroethane at a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:A working medium is prepared by mixing trichlorotrifluoroethane with dichlorotetrafluoroethane in such a ratio as will provide a molar fraction of 0.65 or higher for trichlorotrifluoroethane. It is preferred that the molar fraction of trichlorotrifluoroethane in the mixture be 0.72-0.93 from the viewpoint of improvement in coefficient of performance. The use of the working medium in a high-temperature heat pump brings about an improvement in coefficient of performance and lowering in condensation pressure, i.e. pressure of a compressor, to an economically advantageous value as shown in the figures, thus enabling a general-purpose apparatus to be used. |
