PURPOSE:To remove foreign matters which are stuck on a disk and to prevent occurrence of head crash by providing the floating and arriving point of a magnetic head on the inner side near the center of the disk, and the zero address of a cylinder on the outer side, and by positioning it at the zero address after floating of the magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic disk 1 stops, a magnetic head 3 is positioned at a CSS zone floating and arriving point 5 which is provided on the inside within the range where the head 3 is accessed, and a magnetic head 4 is positioned at a CSS zone 7 which is provided on the inside within the range where the head 4 is accessed. The zero address of the cylinder is a cylinder 8 which is on the outermost place within the access range of the head 4. The heads 3 and 4 float together with rotation of the disk 1, are shifted sequentially in descending order from the maximum cylinder number by each cylinder, and are positioned at the zero address. Therefore, foreign matters which are stuck on the disk 1 are removed and occurrence of head crash is prevented.
