The vacuum cleaner housing for a floor vacuum cleaner, having a dust bag compartment and a motor fan compartment, consists largely of a lower, trough-shaped compartment (2) which is open at the top and constitutes the dust bag compartment, and of an upper, likewise trough-shaped compartment (3) which is open at the bottom and serves as motor fan compartment, and of a housing cross wall (4) which bounds both housing compartments (2, 3) towards the inside. A hood-type lid (5) is fitted onto the lower housing compartment (2) and preferably held by means of a snap-on closure, while a hood-type housing part (6) is located below the upper compartment (3). In this case, the lower separation plane (7) lies lower than the upper separation plane (8), such that the two edge regions of the trough-shaped compartments (2, 3) form a peripheral frame (9). In total, a three-part and continuously single-walled vacuum cleaner housing results in this manner. <IMAGE>
