Hollow bodies of predetermined length are used for producing bushings for coaxial cables through ceilings and walls, the ends of which hollow bodies are sealed with a material which is absorbent and can swell once all the cables have been passed through, and which hollow bodies are then filled with a potting compound which can set. Since the cable insulation (6), which consists of a thermoplastic material, between the inner conductor and outer conductor (2, 4) loses its strength above specific temperatures in the event of a fire and hence possibly cannot prevent a fire spreading, a number of coaxial rods (1) corresponding to the coaxial cables are inserted and cast into the bushing. The ends of the rods are provided with plug connections and screw connections (3, 5) for the connection of cables which pass on from there, the ends being located outside the end walls of the bushing. <IMAGE>
