A motor actuating device is specified for mechanically movable adjusting elements, especially for sliding-lifting roofs in motor vehicles, which device has a reversible drive motor (10) and a disconnection device (32) which acts in presettable stop positions of the adjusting element. In order to create an actuating device which to a large extent is not susceptible to defects and has no switching contacts, a potentiometer (33) is provided whose pick-off (34) is adjusted in synchronism with the adjusting element. On reaching preset reference voltages, the drive motor (10) is automatically disconnected. A large number of automatic stop positions can be provided along the movement track of the adjusting element with the aid of a pulse-control switch (44, 45), which stop positions can be moved over once the adjusting element has stopped, by switching the drive motor (10) on again. <IMAGE>
