In the case of a perforated block (1) which exhibits a slotted perforation formed by webs (17, 18) and slots (11, 11', 11", etc.) extending transversely to the direction of heat flow (W) and combined to give rows of slots (12, 12', 12", etc.), those faces of the slots extending transversely to the direction of heat flow (W) are formed in each case by two part-faces (13, 13' and 14, 14') which are inclined at an obtuse angle ( alpha ) with respect to one another. In this way, the cross-sectional shape of the slots (11, 11', 11", etc.) is composed of two trapeziums (a, b) arranged opposite each other. This configuration means that the webs (17), running transversely to the direction of heat flow (W), are divided into individual web parts which are inclined with respect to one another in an approximately wave-shaped fashion, with the result that said web parts exhibit a high degree of elasticity. When firing and drying the blocks (1), changes in length can be compensated for by means of the elasticity, with the result that high strength is achieved.
