Liquid is continually circulated by a pump (9) from one reservoir (6) to another (5) returning through a measuring channel (1). The heart valve (3) is placed in a holder (2) in the middle of the channel (1). The gas pressures in the reservoirs above the liq. surfaces (7,8) are controlled by gas pressure control units (11,14) which each have a controlled gas input (12,15) and an outlet (16,19). The pressures are continually altered in anti-phase with each other by a motor-driven mechanical system. The frequency of change, typically 10 Hz, can be altered.
