PURPOSE:To indicate azimuths by alphabet, in an azimuth meter comprising a ferromagnetic body, around which exciting windings are wound, by converting the output signals of exciting power into the combinations of seven segments. CONSTITUTION:Exciting windings are wound around a ring shaped magnetic core of a ferromagnetic body, and an azimuth meter is constituted so that the windings face each other along an X axis and a Y axis. When the azimuth meter is rotated by 360 deg., two outputs xDC and yDC which are converted into DC values, form loci as shown in the Figure. Reference potentials V1 and V2 are provided and compared with said outputs. The signals are converted into decoded signals x1, x2, y1 and y2. From these signals, an indicating signal S is made to be a numeral value S=2<3>x1+2<2>x2+2y1+y2. Seven segments are combined in correspondence with the signal S, and N, NE, ESE and the like are indicated. Therefore, by the appropriate combinations of the seven segments, the azimuth is indicated by the alphabet, and the advancing direction of a vehicle can be found readily. |
