PURPOSE:To form a casting mold in which molding sand is uniformly packed by providing stationary rods provided with pistons at the top end to an upper pressurizing head, inserting the same into respective upper pressurizing segments and acting the upper pressurizing segments as movable cylinders. CONSTITUTION:Molding sand 10 is charged into a molding flask 06 contg. a pattern 04 and an upper cylinder 01 is actuated to lower an upper pressurizing head 02 until the top ends of upper pressurizing segments contact with the top surface of the molding sand 10. Oil is then supplied through oil holes 21 into cylinders 20 having pistons 19 provided with rods 18 at the top end to lower the segments 03 thereby pressurizing the molding sand 10. When the prescribed pressure is attained, a lower pressurizing cylinder 17 operates to rise a lower pressurizing head 16 to pressurize the molding sand 10 from the lower part until the top surface of a pattern mounting board 07 on which the pattern 04 is placed is made approximately flush with the top surface of a lower additional flask 14. All the cylinders 20, 17 are retracted upon completion of the pressurizing operation and the pattern 04 is removed to complete the mold formation. |
