PURPOSE:The titled covering material excellent in heat insulation, transparency, frictional resistance, and durability, obtained by irradiating a synthetic film or sheet coated with a specified compound with actinic energy rays and thereby forming a crosslinked cured film thereon. CONSTITUTION:A synthetic resin (e.g., polyolefin resin) film or sheet of a thickness of 20-300mum is coated with an actinic ray-curable compound comprising at least one addition copolymer having ethylenically unsaturated groups and/ or phosphoric acid groups (e.g., 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate or 2-acryloyloxyethyl acid phosphate) and then irradiated with actinic energy rays to obtain the titled covering material having a cured film having a radiation absorption energy EA.T >=1,800W/cm<2>.degree (solid angle) [wherein EA.T is defined by the equation (wherein Alambda.T is an infrared ray absorbance per 10mum thickness of the crosslinked cured film) and determined from a theoretical black body emission intensity Jlambda.T at an absolute temperature of 300 deg.K per 10mum thickness of the film in the wavelength region of 2.5-30.3mum].
