PURPOSE:To secure a fixed volume of an air layer in an ink liquid chamber, perform secure deaeration and thereby prevent air from penetrating into a nozzle, by a construction wherein a valve mechanism having a valve opened by negative pressure and a vent port are provided at an air layer part of an ink liquid chamber, and a sealing cap for a nozzle part is provided. CONSTITUTION:The nozzle part 1A of a recording head 1 is provided with a plurality of nozzle orifices, and the vent port 1B and a valve seat 1C are provided in the vicinity of the interface between an ink 6 and the air layer 7, with a valve 10 normally held in close contact with the valve seat 1C by an elastic force. The valve 10 which consists of an elastic member is so disposed that it is deformed by a pressure difference between a negative pressure and the pressure of the air layer 7 (which is atmospheric) when the negative pressure is drawn through a vent port 1D constituting a deaeration joint part for the head 1 and the exterior thereof, and the valve 10 is separated from the valve seat 1C. Accordingly, deaeration can be securely perfored, and an ink leaked under suction can be easily disposed of by a pump mechanism for generating a negative pressure or the like. |
