PURPOSE:To avoid the condition wherein an underline becomes discontinuous and enhance printing speed, by printing a character after previously printing an underline. CONSTITUTION:A printing form controller group FCG is so constructed that it can control a mode of not underlining, a mode of underlining only characters without underlining spaces and a mode of underlining both characters and spaces in a normal pirnting form, as well as a mode of not underlining, a mode of underlining only characters without underlining spaces and a mode of underlining both characters and spaces in a bold faced printing form. Before printing, a reference stepping amount is compared with the character width peculiar to the desired character to be printed, and a desired ''-'' to be printed is determined. After printing, the head is moved by an amount equal to one half of the character width peculiar to the printed character plus one half of the reference stepping amount. |
