PURPOSE:To enable an article to be put in and/or took out of the storage without providing any notches in a shelf and without using pallets, by providing a table for supporting the article, a telescopic member having projections for pushing and/or pulling the article and a means for moving the projections. CONSTITUTION:For taking out a desired article 6 from the storage, a picking device 12 is moved to a shelf where the article 6 is stored, by driving a travelling device and an elevator. Telescopic devices 18 and 19 are then driven to the opposite directions from each other, and a telescopic member 15 is driven to the direction of the shelf by means of the engagement between a pinion 32 and a rack 27 and so on. When the article 6 is placed between projections 14 provided vertically on the front and rear ends of the telescopic member 15, the telescopic devices 18 and 19 are stopped and elevating means 20 are driven to lower the telescopic member 15. The telescopic devices are thereafter reversely rotated, whereby the article 6 is pushed by the projections 14 and slid on the shelf to be transferred onto a table 16. The article 6 thus supported on the table 16 is conveyed to the outlet. |
