PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a negative pressure slit and to attain size reduction by forming the front and rear side walls of a developing device in thin structure at the side of a recording medium exit and removing an excessive developer through the operation of air at the uneven part of a recording medium which comes into slide contact. CONSTITUTION:The width 12a of a side wall 10 which forms a developer slit 9b and the width 12b of a side wall 11 which forms a slit 9a are so set that 12a>=12b and the width 12b is a small value. Electrostatic recording paper 1 where an electrostatic latent image is formed is conveyed as shown by an arrow A and the slits 9 are filled with a developer to perform developmnt. Then, the paper 1 is conveyed as shown by the arrow A and an excessive developer sticking on the paper is blown away with air which flows in from the uneven part of the paper 1 contacting the side wall 11, so that no developer leaks out of the developing device 8. Thus, the excessive developer is removed without providing any negative pressure slit, so the size is reduced. |
