PURPOSE:To prevent resistors or a conductive film from being broken due to water vapor discharged from a printing paper into the atmosphere, by a method wherein a plurality of heating resistors provided on a substrate are covered by an oxidation-resistant layer, an abrasion-resistant layer and a water-proof layer. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of resistor (Ta2N) layers 2 and conductor (Ni-Cr-Au- Cr) layers 3 provided on the surface of the substrate 1 formed of a ceramic or the like are covered by a water-repellent resin having high thermal decomposition temperature and high adhesion property, e.g., a fluoro resin, to provide the water-proof layer 6, which is covered by the oxidation-resistant layer (SiO2) 4 and the abrasion-resistant layer (Ta2O5) 5. Accordingly, by constituting the protective layer for the resistor layer and the conductor layers of 3 layers of the water- proof layer, the oxidation-resistant layer and the abrasion-resistant layer, the water vapor discharged from the printing paper into the atmosphere is prevented from penetrating into the interior of the thermal head, and the resistors and the conductor films are prevented from being broken due to the water vapor. |
