PURPOSE:The titled remedy containing an imidazoline derivative or a salt thereof as an active constituent. CONSTITUTION:A remedy for cerebral infarct containing a compound of the formula (R<1> is aryl; R<2> is halogen or lower alkyl which may be substituted by a halogen), e.g. 2-(2-phenoxy-5-chlorophenyl)amino-2-imidazoline. The remedy is capable of suppressing the onset of cerebral infarct, and improves the hematocytolytic ability. The above-mentioned remedy can be orally or parenterally administered, and the dosage form may be a tablet, powder, capsule, fine granule, syrup, suppository, injection, etc. The dose thereof is 1mg-5g/day, preferably 1-500mg/day expressed in terms of the compound of the formula or a salt thereof, and administered 1-4 times a day.
