PURPOSE:To obtain high correction performance for both burst and random errors by correcting an error in data which reproduce in sector unit from a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:In a C1 correction system, each word is interleaved at every 11 frames. Therefore, even if continuous burst errors are observed within 11 frames, the error is just expressed only the error of one word seeing from the interleave system. Therefore, all errors can be corrected by parities P1 and Q1. For example, even if continuous burst errors in the column direction are observed in the W1 of the first - the 11th frame, only one word W1 is just expressed as the error in respective C1 correction systems which start from respective words W1 of the first - the 11th frame, and therefore, the correction is executed by the parities P1 and Q1 of respective C1 correction systems. Therefore, all burst errors which occur in the words W1 of the first - the 11th frame can be corrected. In other words, if there are no errors in the 88th frame before and after, all can be corrected by the parities P1 and Q1 of the C1 correction system. |
