PURPOSE:To obtain a simply constructed, small type, low price light source device of stable wave length and output of light by making a construction of directly supporting a semiconductor laser element with a mount which has PTC characteristics. CONSTITUTION:A mount 12 which closely supports a semiconductor laser 11 of light source is made of a substance which has great positive resistance temperature coefficient, i.e., PTC characteristics. For this reason, if a current flows in the mount 12, it works as an ordinary exothermic resistance since the mount 12 is low resistance at lower temperature than switching temperature. If the temperature of the mount 12 rises to the switching temperature region where the resistance rapidly increases, the current in the mount 12 becomes very small and the rise of temperature stops whereby the temperature of the oscillator region of the semiconductor laser 11 is balanced and maintained at nearly constant. Consequently, the wave length of laser light is maintained at nearly constant and the output of light becomes stable. |
