PURPOSE:The titled composition, obtained by incorporating modified aluminum hydroxide particles having a layer containing aluminum phosphate formed on the surfaces of particles, having moderate polishing ability, scarcely causing the deterioration, and usable in an aluminum container. CONSTITUTION:A composition for the oral cavity obtained by incorporating modified aluminum hydroxide particles, having a layer containing aluminum phosphate prepared by suspending aluminum hydroxide having 1-30mu, preferably 3-20mu average particle size in an aqueous solution of phosphoric acid in 0.05- 5mol/l concentration or a salt thereof to form a slurry in 30-70wt% concentration, and neutralizing the above-mentioned slurry at 10-50 deg.C, preferably 20- 30 deg.C for 2-50hr, preferably 2-30hr under stirring to form the above-mentioned layer of 10-1,000Angstrom thickness on the surfaces of the particles in other components. Preferably, the modified particles having 0.1-10wt% P atom content in the above-mentioned aluminum phosphate layer and 0.01-0.5wt% P2O5 component content therein are used. |
